Avid Carp HQ 1 Man Bivvy

The most feature-packed bivvy on the market.
So, what is it that makes this bivvy stand out from the crowd? Well, the HQ comes with a clip-in inner wrap. This totally eradicates the need for a winter skin and completely eliminates condensation.
If you regularly wake up to the dreaded drip of condensation, you need to get yourself a HQ! The inner wrap is not attached to the groundsheet so it can be left in place all-year round!
What’s more, the wrap is supplied with the HQ so there’s no need to shell out any additional cash.
The HQ has a unique separated pole layout which provides improved stability and greater floor space. It will easily accommodate a large bedchair and all the tackle that you could possible need for a long stint on the bank.
If you’re after a bivvy that won’t let you down, then we suggest you take a look at the HQ. It completely storm proof, boasts taped seems and has been tested in wind, snow, rain and intense sunlight. It’s never let any of our anglers down!
When creating the bivvy, we concluded that it was the little things that often made a big difference. So, in a bid to give you more, we included a rear vent that can be opened from the inside, a colour coded groundsheet and two rod-retention bars.
In short, it’s the bivvy that all other bivvies are now compared to. Check out all of the features and make your own mind up. We know you’ll see the light!

Avid Carp Pin Down

Our aim was to develop a fast sinking, super-supple leader material that would follow every contour on the lake bed. After tirelessly testing a variety of different weird andwonderful materials, we eventually found what we were looking for, and the Pin Down was created.
It’s just as heavy as leadcore and boasts similar abrasion resistance qualities, but it doesn’t have any wire running through the center of it, so it’s super supple and will hug every contour on the lake bed. It boasts a much lower diameter than most leadcores, so it’s inconspicuous on the bottom.
Even though it has a low profile, this great alternative to leadcore is easy to splice and will never let you down. It’s strong, has great abrasion resistance properties and you can even tie knots in it. If you’re looking for a versatile leader, pin it down with Pin Down.
Available in 45lb breaking strains and weed/silt or gravel/clay

Team Korda on Daiwa Rods & Bite Indication

Team Korda on Daiwa Rods & Bite Indication

For more information http://www.korda.co.uk/team_korda/

Daiwa have taken the tried and trusted Magnum Taper profile, used for many years by top European carp anglers and given Danny Fairbrass the freedom to design his own specification and finish.

The result is a highly distinctive but subtle look using a low glare silk matt finish and selected medium profile, high diameter SiC guides. With a butt guide of 50mm the following intermediates of 38mm and 32mm they are designed to ‘funnel’ the line travel towards the tip. A set up that is preferred by big hitters out there.

Delivering Danny’s own look too is the handle combination. Starting with a Fuji reel seat and stainless steel trim rings the handle maintains an elegant feel thanks to the profiled NS grip that continues to the butt. Flared at the end for better gripping this stylised treatment is finished off with a stainless steel butt cap.

Safezone Kamo Leaders

If your whole presentation is tangled as it hits the bottom of the lake bed you are not going to get a take on it, no matter how attractive the hook bait. This is why we pay so much attention to what goes behind the lead and how smooth the taper is between the two.
As always you will not find numerous sizes of any of our anti-tangle systems – one size fits all is our motto. We are all for making it simpler and more cost effective, and in reality a slightly thinner or thicker anti-tangle system will not catch you any more carp.

However, having exactly the right colour anti-tangle system will, that is why we sell three colours of rig tube. Matching this part of the rig to the lake bed will make more of a difference to the camouflage of your rig than any other aspect; bearing in mind this is the largest part of the whole rig.

Next time you go angling drop your rig in the edge, how camouflaged is it? Can you see it from several feet above? Imagine a carp several inches above it. From our underwater filming there can be no doubt, if the carp can see the set-up they will be much harder to catch.

No other company produces such a wide range of colours because no other company has seen how much difference it can make. We shall continue to strive for more and better ways of stopping tangles and fooling those most cautious carp.
Safezone Spares

To compliment our fantastic Kamo Leaders, we have many spares to fit all. Each Rubber Bead, Heli Sleeve, Run Rig Rubber and Heli Bead is designed to slide and fit over each leader with ease.

The carefully constructed rubber is safe and will detach itself from the leader should a fish become snagged or buried in a weedbed.

The Run Rig Rubber offers a completely different arrangement in the form of a free-running rig — a presentation that has to be one of the most sensitive forms of bite indication. As a carp sucks in the hook bait and moves away, it will immediately register on the bobbin, due to the way that the line runs freely through the lead. Basically, your swivel lead will be mounted onto the rubber but it can be pulled off with ease forming the running rig.

The other items in the Safezone range compliment the popular helicopter/chod leaders. Items such as the Heli Bead not only hold your hooklength in place on a helicopter rig, but they also create one of Danny Fairbrass’ favourite lead setups — known as the Shokka.
Once again the Shokka’s emphasis is placed on a free-running presentation. During the Underwater Films, we identified that carp will often use the weight of the lead to eject and spit out the rig. By a savage shake of the head, the carp will literally sling the rig across the lake bed without getting hooked at all. As a result, Danny concocted the Shokka. When a fish picks up the bait, the leader will move through the lead creating virtually no resistance, causing the fish to move off with the bait confidently. Then, as it gathers pace the lead will hit the backstop and BANG — the hook will drive home. Job done! For more info on how to tie such presentations check out the features section.

Feature Finding & Spodding with Danny Fairbrass

DROPZONE

Feature finding is an essential part of carp angling so we have placed much emphasis on perfecting this practice with our revolutionary Dropzone range. With so much experience on board and the likes of Danny Fairbrass, Damian Clarke and Adam Penning thoroughly fieldtesting the system, the problems with marker floating have been thoroughly ironed out and it has never been so easy.

Cast them to the horizon, pop them up in the heaviest weed and see them at distance; our Dropzone range achieves it all. Each product; the Marker Float, Stem and Probe lead all work in tangent giving one of the most effective systems out there.

Each float is air-injection moulded giving optimum performance in both rising through the water column and flying aerodynamically through the air. Use this in conjunction with the Marker Stem and you’ll tackle the heaviest weed out there. One problem that many anglers face is the fact that they can’t cast a marker as far as their hook baits. Fear no more, as Danny Fairbrass and the team have designed them long, narrow and aerodynamic to conquer this. They literally cut through the air like one of Phil Taylor’s darts!

Each stem is so buoyant, that the marker is held 10 inches above the weed and cannot become snarled in any loose strands. The stem has also been designed with an extra large eye so that the line can travel through it with ease, rapidly sending the float to the surface.
Each flight has been created in a high viz colour adapting them to all light conditions. Spod at 50yrd or 180yrd and you’ll still see your target with ease.

The Dropzone range includes Marker Floats, Spod & Marker Kits or alternatively purchase the whole marker float setup to use straight out the bag!

BOTTOM BAIT RIG – Mechanics

Used extensively by top carpers Adam Penning and Simon Scott, this simple bottom bait presentation is both easy-to-tie and very effective. The rig is constructed using the ever-faithful knotless knot, but features two sections of tubing that cater for two very different purposes.

The shrink tubing is steamed over the eye of the hook. This encourages the point to flip in the carp’s mouth, thus allowing it to catch hold in the bottom lip. Try the ‘palm test’ to see how effectively it flips. To further this, roll a large segment of putty around the hook link an inch or so away from the hook. The extra weight will then cause the hook to drop, once again allowing it to pull into the bottom lip.

The second, smaller section of tubing, this time our dedicated Silicone Tubing, is placed on the bend of the hook. This holds the hook bait in place and prevents the hair from wrapping around the shank on the cast. Not only that, it also acts as an indicator. If a fish has sucked in the hook bait and blown it out without getting hooked, the silicone will have slid up the shank towards the eye. If this is the case, you’ve been ‘done’. A cracking rig for the avid bottom-bait user.

We have always been dedicated to passing on our knowledge to you the angler, and DVDs give us a unique opportunity to put you on the bank with us, so you can see exactly how we do it!

All of our DVDs are information first and entertainment second. We see no value in you watching us drag in a load of carp from some giant French reservoir with little or no tips on how we did it. In total contrast, you will see there are large sections of all our films without any carp action. We want you to know how we catch and what we catch, and the only way to get this across is to go into far more depth than we ever could in a magazine or on TV.

Each of our films has its own theme. All of them will appeal to a wide range of carp and specimen hunters alike. We have tried to explain things thoroughly without patronising the experienced angler but at the same time made things easy going enough for a complete beginner. There is still no better way to learn unless of course you can get first hand tuition and as we don’t even get the time to fish together having a day with anyone else is almost impossible.

Watch carp feed right in front of the cameras in our highly-acclaimed Underwater Series and adapt your rigs to suit the way that these cunning carp feed. Each DVD is brought to you by some of the best carp anglers in the country and includes tips from big-carp anglers such as Simon Scott, Gaz Fareham and Darrell Peck — you cannot fail to learn.

Sit back, relax and enjoy every moment as you relive these epic carping moments. They’ll certainly make you want to go fishing!
